The Circle

Earlier in the year when I was promoting my book and digital single, I kept getting different offers for different reality tv shows. I don't follow or watch reality tv programmes, because I feel they're dull and a waste of time, partly because they're full of superficial people, who are desperate for attention. That is the opposite of me and who I am.

One of the reality tv programmes that approached me was channel 4's new one called, 'The Circle', I was very apprehensive of getting involved because of my dislike for reality tv. I felt it would be superficial and full of desperate attention seekers. The researchers / casting people kept on to me to apply, and they get me interested in the show format by explaining that it was about how social media is used, and how it can be used for good or bad. Even though I was apprehensive, I thought maybe I could show how social media can be used for good things, like raising awareness on seriously issues that are important in life.

Naturally I wasn't chosen for the show, but from the so-called audition process, I felt the whole thing was 'staged'. And I guess they didn't want to use real, genuine people who use social media for positive things. The Circle begins in the UK tonight at 9:15pm, on channel 4.
