They answered the call
To fight for one & all
They went to far away lands
To fight & protect our homelands.
They answered the call
They left by the hundreds & thousands
But lots never came home
War is bleak, dark & cruel
Millions upon millions died from these wars
Some gassed, some bombed
Some shot, some of malnutrition
But some just died from disease.
There are no winners with war
There is only death & destruction
So many poor young souls perished
They died for us to be free
Freedoms we take for granted
Let us never forget
The brave souls who never got to go home
The ones who lost everything
Including their dreams & goals
May their bravery, their stories
& all their names live on in our hearts & memories
